EVANGELISATION & Mission

The Emmanuel Community organises activities and programmes in parishes and dioceses, across cities and towns…..

Street evangelisation

…..in pubs and clubs, shopping centres and markets, schools and universities, homes and anywhere that people meet together.

For members of Emmanuel, the discovery of God’s infinite and personal love brings a desire to share this with each and every person we meet, because every single person is loved by God the Father for all eternity.

‘It is not only that we should evangelize, but in doing so we evangelize ourselves. We are changed, filled with the Lord.  He is to be found on our lips, in our hearts and we are transformed.’

(Servant of God Pierre Goursat,  Second Session, Paray-le-Monial France, 23rd July 1975)

The Emmanuel Community is a missionary community.  In Ireland, the Emmanuel Community has had missions in many parishes and cities across the country.  These include University College Dublin, Dungannon Parish Co Tyrone, St Anne’s Parish Belfast, St. Johns Cathedral Limerick, Walkinstown Parish Dublin, Foxrock Parish Dublin, Newbridge Parish Co Kildare, Carryduff Parish Belfast, St Andrews Parish Westland Row Dublin,  St. Martin de Porres Parish Tallaght Dublin, Tallaght Youth Mission Dublin, and Street Evangelisation for example during the International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) Dublin, World Meeting of Families, World Youth Days, on city streets and in shopping centres…

In a world that is often bewildered and that seeks new reasons for living, Christ’s light must be brought to all. Be zealous Gospel Missionaries amidst the men and women of today, sustained by a life that has been radically taken over by Christ! May you thirst to proclaim the word of God!

(Address of Benedict XVI to the members of the Emmanuel Community, 3rd February 2011)
